Fluorine Free Foam Roadshow Seminar
Join us for a new seminar series, where we will cover Fluorine Free Foam Concentrates (F3), the practicalities and the importance of re-engineering fire systems when using F3 foams.
Engineering for Fluorine Free Fire Fighting Foam Alternatives
Recent legislation passed in Queensland has focused Industry on the removal and destruction of fluorinated AFFF fire fighting foam concentrates containing PFOS and PFOA and replacing them with Fluorine Free Alternatives
This task however, is not as simple as just replacing the existing foam concentrate with a fluorine free foam concentrate. There are a number of engineering considerations to be taken into account to ensure that that the fluorine free alternative is as effective in extinguishing fires and that overall safety is not compromised. These include:
. Foam Concentrate Storage – is the existing tank sufficient?
. Proportioning Device – will the existing proportioner work?
. Foam Discharge Nozzles – will the existing nozzles perform as well?
. Discharge Duration – what should it be?
. Piping System – will the existing design produce a complying system?
. Is the fluorine free foam proposed suitable for the flammable liquid in question?
. What approvals are required and/or in place at this time?
In this Seminar Series, to be introduced by the Queensland Department of Environment and Heritage Protection, Fire Protection Technologies and John Ottesen, President of Dafo Fomtec AB, will discuss these engineering issues in depth with particular emphasis on petrochemical installations.
